A month without a new build.
The beta went quiet for almost a month on purpose. On September 17th it came back.
If you were a Neeos tester, you may have noticed that nothing changed on your phone between late August and mid-September. That was deliberate.
Why it went quiet
After build 373 on August 22nd, I froze new work. On August 17th I'd written down a rule: stop adding features until the product that already exists is honest, safe, testable, and recoverable. Everything in the last few weeks of posts here, the audit, the missing sign-up, the tests that tested nothing, came from that stretch. It felt slow from the outside. It was the opposite from the inside.
Back on your phone
On September 17th, build 406 went out, the first new build in nearly a month. It was cut from a design pass on the chat screen. The controls at the top of chat now float over the conversation with Apple's soft blur behind them, the way the best chat apps do, and the buttons are bigger. On an iPad in a resizable window, the menu button now stays clear of the window controls.
One decision I'm glad I made: I didn't slip features in during the freeze to make it feel less empty. A quiet month is fine if what's underneath got stronger.
Written October 21, 2026 from the build log, and dated to when this happened.
