Chat starts showing its work.

An answer that used the web now shows where it came from. A question about restaurants gets a map. And you can finally tell Neeos to stop mid-sentence.

For the first month, Neeos chat did one thing: you asked, it answered. If it had gone to the web to find something, you had no way to tell. You got a paragraph and had to take its word for it. That bothered me more every week, because the whole point of this app is that you should be able to check it.

Sources you can tap

When an answer uses the web, it now shows small cards underneath with where the information came from. Tap one and you see a preview of the page. The previews are fetched by our server, so your phone never has to visit the site you were reading about. The funny part: when we went looking for why this had never worked, we found the AI had been citing its sources all along. The app was simply throwing the citations away before you saw them.

A map when you ask about places

Ask for restaurants near somewhere and you now get an actual map with the places on it, not a list of names you have to look up yourself. Ask Neeos to compare two or three things and it builds a small table without being asked.

Stop means stop

You can now stop an answer partway through. Before, if Neeos started writing something you didn't want, you waited for it to finish. Now there is a Stop button, the box you type into stays usable while it writes, and a stopped answer is marked as stopped instead of looking like it finished. We also made replies appear as they're written, word by word, rather than all at once at the end. And you can take a photo straight into the chat.

None of this is glamorous. It is the difference between an assistant that talks and one that shows its homework, and I'd rather build the second kind. These changes went out to testers on August 15th, and the Mac app picked up sources and maps a couple of days later.

Written October 21, 2026 from the build log, and dated to when this happened.
