Our to-do list and our website were both wrong.
I had a team of AI agents re-check hundreds of items on our own to-do list. Dozens were marked done and weren't.
On August 29th I did something unglamorous. I had a large group of AI agents go through our whole list of open and finished work, roughly 350 individual claims, and check each one against the actual code.
What they found
Of the items we thought were settled, 109 really were done and 80 were still open. But 26 were marked done and weren't, and about 40 more were out of date in the encouraging direction, meaning they sounded like progress and weren't. A list that overstates progress is worse than no list, because you plan on top of it.
The website was behind too
A few sentences on the website no longer matched the product:
- One page still named a different company as the AI that answers your questions, after we had moved.
- A demo message on the homepage read like a doctor clearing someone to exercise. It was only an example, but it looked like medical advice, so it came down.
- One line described an Apple product that doesn't exist.
We fixed these. We also found that a privacy sentence I'd approved described where our search index is built backwards: it's built on your device, not on our servers.
Why bother
Neeos is heading toward strangers using it, and strangers read what we write and believe it. Every sentence we publish is a promise. So I'd rather spend a day finding the sentences that are wrong than have someone else find them.
