Apple sent the build back.
A reviewer tapped Subscribe and saw an error. We fixed it the same night, and I paused all new features.
On October 8th Apple sent Neeos back. The note was short: when the reviewer tapped the In-App Purchase products, an error message appeared. They were on an iPad Air running a preview of the next iPadOS.
What happened
A reviewer buys the subscription with their own Apple test account. My app only allowed purchases from my own demo account, so a reviewer using theirs ran straight into Neeos's own refusal, which looks like a broken app. From their side, the purchase button simply failed.
The fix
Within hours, I changed the server to accept purchases from Apple's test environment, but only for a short window after each purchase, so a reviewer can complete the flow and real App Store buyers aren't affected. A second look found two more problems with my first version: it would have expired far too quickly, and it could have switched off a paying customer whose payment was being retried. Both were fixed before it went live.
Because the change was on the server, no new app build was needed.
The pause
That night, after a frank conversation about being a one-person company, I called a full feature pause until review passes. Bug fixes only. A week later I clarified what that meant: it applies to the public build. Work on my own build can continue.
A rejection is annoying, and it is also useful. The reviewer did exactly what I'd want a real person to do, and found a place where Neeos let them down.
