"Add it to my calendar" said it did, and hadn't.

Neeos told me an event was added. Nothing appeared in Apple Calendar. The assistant wasn't lying; the software had no way to do what it said.

On October 10th I asked Neeos to add an appointment to my calendar. It said it had. I opened Apple Calendar. There was nothing there.

What was going on

The logs showed the action ran. But the action wrote the event into Neeos's own list. It never touched Apple Calendar at all. The assistant reported success because, according to the code, something had succeeded. It had just succeeded at the wrong thing.

The fix

I could have asked for permission to write to your calendar directly. Instead, Neeos now opens Apple's own new-event screen, prefilled with the title, date, and time, and you tap Add. It's one extra tap. In exchange, no calendar permission is needed, and you see exactly what's going in before it does.

Which version has it

The fix is in the next update, 1.0.2. The version on the App Store today, 1.0.1, handles this by honestly declining to add calendar events rather than pretending to.

A small story, but it's the kind I care about most: the worst thing an assistant can do isn't to fail. It's to say it succeeded when it didn't.
