Two versions of one app.

One codebase now builds two apps: the finished one strangers get, and the unfinished one only I run.

For months, everything lived in one version of Neeos: finished things, half-finished things, and experiments. That's fine for the person building it. It's a bad way to meet Apple's reviewers or a stranger who just wants an app that works.

The split

Starting September 28th, the same code builds two different apps. The public build contains only things that are finished: notes, files, Momentum, and chat that remembers you. My own build keeps the unfinished modules. To keep them from ever getting mixed up, the numbering is different: public builds are even, mine are odd.

Health and the finance product, Atlas, are held back from the public build. The Apple Watch app was left out of the first release by my explicit call.

A listing that says what's true

I rewrote the App Store listing around the idea that Neeos remembers you, worded carefully as remembering, never as training an AI on you. Anything I can't stand behind in the build, I can't put on the page.

The first split build, number 432, was recorded on the 30th, and later that day the app was read back from Apple's system as waiting for review, set to release only when I say so. It also went to the public beta group on TestFlight.

The point of the split is honesty: what you download should be what's finished, and my experiments shouldn't be allowed to leak into it by accident.

Written October 21, 2026 from the build log, and dated to when this happened.
